Into the LIGHT
Restoration plan
Cinisi (Pa) - Italy
May 2005
The new three doors in the front
elevation lets the light to spread in the house
The concept
The house had a quite big garden and a spontaneous
inclination towards the light. Nevertheless it failed in the
attempt of opening to light because of the very little windows.
Moreover the sun was obstructed by the presence of a little patio
in the front area. The idea was to return the house to the light by
opening three big doors in the new front elevation. In this way we
managed to establish a very strong relationship between the inside
and the outside, expecially in summer when all the three doors
remain open all day.

Staircase to HEAVEN
Furniture Design
Favignana (Tp) - Italy
April 2006
This is a self-supporting straight run staircase, designed
for a holiday house in the isle of Favignana. According to the
local laws this had to be a standalone and removable structure. The
aluminium framework and handrail as well as the teak steps are all
fixed with steel screws. The landing supports are directly welded
to the steel bars of the main wall and are the only fixed part of
the entire staircase.

New site proposal
Young Architects exhibition
Palermo - Italy
June 2004
This volume is lightened up by a
skylight extended to the entire roof
The concept
This project was made for an exhibition promoted by the
university of Palermo. I choosed to work in an area near the suburb
of the city where, close to the ancient psychiatric hospital ( now
dismissed ), rises the ruins of that is supposed to be one of the
ancient summer residence of the Normans, like the more famous “La
Zisa”. Apart from choosing one of the assigned areas the theme of
exhibition was free, so I decided to work on a proposal for the new
site of the archeological museum of Palermo. Here the idea is to
completly empty the main existing volume leaving the external wall
like an evidence of the past and arranging the inside like a sort
of open square. As the main volume is something like a cube I
juxtaposed to it another similar volume. Other two little cube are
placed surrounding the main volume. The two little buildings
contains the exhibition rooms. The relationship with the
neighbourhood is assured by several ramps and by a rised
“promenade” that connect a near little square with a secret
garden.

The Artist House
Preliminary Plan
Bagheria (Pa) - Italy
November 2002
Model view from the front
elevation
The concept
The area is situated on a slope in front of the sea. It can
be reached following a path placed between to little hills. As you
walk on this way you can discover little by little the sea and the
neighbourhood. The idea is to suddenly interrupt the path by
placing a long stone wall, forcing visitors to look at the only
opening that act like a frame for the sea. The wall allows the
house to growth along a straight line leaving all the rooms in
direct relationship with the panorama.
